Other Activities
Recycled rags are used in the repair area for cleaning of machines and tools. The rags are purchased from the St Vincent de Paul Society, which also assists this organisation.
Our warehouse utilises obsolete brochures and recycled shredded paper for packing material and only use biodegradable air filled plastic pockets for packaging (when there is insufficient shredded paper)
Epson Australia is a company that knows planning for the future requires strong commitment to the environment. That is why we strive to create innovative products that are reliable, recyclable and energy efficient. Better products that use fewer resources help ensure a better future for us all.
Environmental Management System
In May 2001, Epson Australia gained ISO 14001 certification and became one of the first computer printer manufacturers in Australia to gain this important environmental achievement. Epson has put in place an Environmental Management System (EMS) which is the cornerstone of its accreditation. As part of its EMS, at the end of each year, Epson Australia compiles an environmental activity plan for the ensuing year. This outlines the particular environmental areas on which it will focus on throughout the year.
For the year ending March 2010, one of the aggressive key targets
that Epson Australia has set itself is to have 60% of its office
and warehouse waste diverted from landfill, through either recycling
or re-use. Through the efforts of all staff and the continued
improvement of our operations, Epson Australia is well on the
way to achieving this goal.
Carbon Footprint - results 2008 audit
http://www.carbonplanet.com/
As part of its ongoing environmental consciousness, Epson Australia has
had an audit of greenhouse gas emissions (GHE), emanating from
it's principle operations in Australia for the calendar year
2008.
The audits and assessments are in accordance with the greenhouse Gas Protocol: A Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard (Revised Edition) and ISO 14064-1.
This audit looked at emissions across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 as defined under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) Act 2007.
In establishing our carbon footprint, Epson Australia Pty Ltd falls well below the reportable threshold and facility threshold for the foreseeable future. Notwithstanding this, Epson Australia continues to work with logistics partners and others to source ways of further reducing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions emanating from our operations.
