Ink cartridge re-design

The ink cartridges used in the SureColor P6070, P7070, P8070 and P9070 large format printers have been superseded by new models due to necessary design and manufacturing changes.

For these new inks, the way the 'ink low' communication works in the printer status monitor has changed. This is due to the discontinuation in production of a component currently used within those ink cartridges.

Due to the change in components, ink consumption is now calculated based on the printing of different sized dots, and ink usage must now be estimated rather than accurately tracked. As a result, varying levels of ink could remain in each cartridge. The price of the cartridges has been reduced by 20% to reflect this change.

Customers will still benefit from the same high quality and high reliability of Epson genuine ink, which is not impacted by the change.

IMPORTANT: Before you install the new ink cartridge series in your printer for the first time, it is important that you update the firmware to the latest version. Refer to the table below for links to download the latest firmware for each model. Simply click the link and select the driver for your operating system. See here for a step-by-step video guide on how to update the firmware.

If the new cartridges are installed without performing the firmware update, your printer will display an error message and it will not function. This can be solved by following the instructions here.
