Epson Perfection V700 Photo scanner with Dual Lens System technology

March 2006

Sydney, 1 March 2006: Epson has released the Epson Perfection V700 Photo Scanner with ground breaking technologies unique to Epson.

The Perfection V700 Photo is the first scanner to feature a Dual Lens System. The High Resolution Lens for reflective media produces a resolution of 4800dpi while the Super Resolution lens allows an unprecedented 6400dpi optical film scanning resolution. Matched with an Epson Matrix CCD (charge-coupled device) sensor the Perfection V700 Photo produces the highest resolution seen in its class.

Rivalling the quality of many drum scanners, the Perfection V700 Photo has a high optical density rating of 4.0Dmax. This powerful feature allows greater tonal gradation and creates more colours in the scanned image.

The Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) hyper processor of the Perfection V700 Photo enables it to scan image data significantly faster than other scanners that rely on the PC's internal processor and memory. This makes it faster than the leading competitors in almost all scan settings taking a mere 91 seconds to complete a high resolution negative film scan at 6400dpi.

A versatile film scanner, the Perfection V700 Photo features an 8 inch by 10 inch transparency unit that with the included film holders, makes light work of simultaneous scanning of either:

  • 24 frames of 35mm strip film
  • 12 slide mounted 35mm films
  • 2 medium format 120/220 (6 x 20cm) strip films
  • 2 frames of 4 x 5-inch film
  • 8 x 10-inch TPU Scanning area (using Film Area Guide)

Because the Perfection V700 Photo is aimed at the professional market, it comes bundled with outstanding software. Included with the scanner are programs such as SilverFast SE 6, a powerful pre-scan editing tool that removes unwanted imperfections before scanning like image noise and dust and scratches. Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 for professional Photoshop that tweaks scanned images, and ABBYY Fine Reader 6 for advanced character recognition when scanning in OCR mode are also included, along with a new version of Epson Creativity suite and Epson Scan which includes Digital ICE technology providing simple solutions to pre scan editing.

Incorporated Digital ICE technology in Epson Scan makes it a powerful pre-scan edit tool without being overcomplicated. When scanning film the Digital ICE technology automatically removes dust and scratches from the image. The user can select either Digital ICE lite, which puts speed over quality, or Digital ICE which is slower but higher quality dust and scratch removal. The same technology is available for reflective media in the form of Digital ICE Photo Print Technology.

Fast connectivity solutions mean fast productivity. The Perfection V700 has lightning fast USB 2.0 and FireWire IEEE 1394 connections compatible with PC or Mac and 48 Bit processing through an ASIC type processor producing more colours at a higher rate of gradation.

On top of its admirable technical specifications the Perfection V700 Photo complements any work space. A blue LED runs down the centre of the lid showing the position of the lens carriage. The Perfection V700 Photo is also friendly to the environment using energy saving technology and to your home environment, producing low noise levels.

The Epson Perfection V700 Photo scanner has an RRP of $949 including GST and is available through Epson dealers. For full product specifications on this and other Epson scanners please refer to www.epson.com.au.
