Australia’s leading label equipment distributor, Aldus, takes on Epson SurePress
Sydney,18 April 2012: Epson has appointed Australia’s leading label equipment distributor Aldus Engineering Pty Ltd, as an agent for SurePress L-4033A, a highly versatile short run digital label press and the world’s first commercial label press to use Epson’s high performance MicroPiezo™ print head technology.
Ian Guanaria, General Manager of Aldus, said there is a huge market for short run digital presses and Aldus believes the Epson SurePress will capture a large slice of that market.
“We have been looking at getting into this segment with the right partner for some time. Our philosophy is that we sell only high quality equipment and our principals are always first or second in the market. Epson fills that spot as far as we are concerned in this short run label segment.
“We have been talking with Epson for about four months and testing and evaluating SurePress and we are very impressed with its quality and ease of use.
“We are also impressed with Epson’s commitment to continue to develop digital products for this and other segments. We have been in business for a long time and we like our partners to also have a long term view,” Ian said.
“Epson is very excited to be working with Aldus, Australia’s leading label distributor, because Aldus’s 60 plus years experience in the printing industry and Epson’s determination to be the leader in commercial digital printing creates a strong and focused partnership,” said Craig Heckenberg, Business Unit Manager for Epson Australia.
“Aldus’s label expertise combined with Epson digital printing expertise will deliver market leading label solutions for the Australian label converter market,” Craig said.
Mr Guanaria said there is good synergy between Aldus’s business and what Epson is aiming to achieve.
“SurePress fits neatly into what we already do in the label market and we are talking to many of the same customers as Epson, so we also believe this will be good for both our businesses.
“We have a range of other products that we can add to the Epson SurePress and provide a complete turnkey solution to a business that wants to move quickly to digital label production, or wants to enter this rapidly growing segment.”
Designed for label converters taking the first steps into digital printing or expanding their existing digital printing capacity, large scale product manufacturers and commercial printers, the Epson SurePress L-4033A fits easily into existing digital workflows and is offered with a range of third party pre-and post-press options that can be tailored to meet various needs and budgets.
SurePress leverages the accuracy and precision of Epson’s leading MicroPiezo® ink jet technology and newly-developed SurePress AQ six-colour, industrial-quality, water-based pigment ink that produces a remarkable range of colours for impressive, professional and consistent results.
SurePress has 15 six-colour high performance and highly accurate print heads that produce printing speeds up to 5 metres/minute while producing smooth tonal gradations, remarkable colour quality, and sharp detail for easy bar code readability, plus crisp small type and line work.
And each print head uses Epson’s patented Variable-sized Droplet Technology to both ensure smooth tonal gradations and accurate colours for optimum image quality, and to help improve print speed over large single colour areas.
Epson set out to ensure that conversion to a digital label printing system
with SurePress is as easy as possible with minimal changes to existing substrate
inventories and purchasing choices, and automated set up procedures to minimise
make ready time.
