Adding significantly to the Epson Stylus Pro 9880 high speed capabilities is a one–inch print head with a horizontal by vertical configuration of 180 x 8 ink nozzles. In stark comparison to earlier models – with only 96 nozzles per colour – the new print head has the ability to cover a greater printable area for each pass which dramatically improves print speeds.
One of the key factors in achieving absolute clarity in prints is precise ink droplets formation. By utilising Micro Piezo technology as opposed to a thermal or "bubble" system, the print head is capable of controlling the curvature (meniscus) of the upper surface of the ink column at the print head nozzles. This meniscus control technology enables the Epson Stylus Pro 9880 to deliver sharp, accurately placed spherical ink droplets on to the print media.
With accurate ink placement comes the ability to create prints that exhibit details so fine that it exceeds the quality delivered by more expensive printing devices.
