Epson’s new fast, space saving, front operated thermal receipt printer

January 2009

Epson, a global leader in value-added point-of-sale (POS) systems, has released the smallest thermal single station printer with full frontal operation.  Designed for space-saving under the counter operation it is the ideal solution for applications from high-volume sales environments such as convenience stores to the most demanding fast food outlet, restaurant or bar.

The Epson TM-T70 builds on the reliability and worldwide sales success of Epson's TM-T88 series receipt printers which are the most popular thermal printers in high-volume retail and food service environments today.

Designed to be operated with the minimum of effort the Epson TM-T70 has all its controls accessible from the front - receipt feed, paper loading, operator controls and on/off switch, and an auto-cutter and optional annunciating buzzer – allowing it to be easily and conveniently operated while under the counter.

Maintenance has been simplified on the TM-T70 with easy access operator covers, Auto Status Back (ASB) messages and a remote maintenance counter for monitoring printer functions.

Unlike many other receipt printers, the TM-T70 boasts the same quiet and fast 170 millimetres per second print speed for text, barcodes and graphics, or a combination of all three.

With a 180 dpi print head, the TM-T70 creates sophisticated and intelligent receipts for maximum customer impact, printing logos and graphics that reinforce marketing messages, or scannable horizontal or vertical barcodes for special offers and promotions.

The TM-T70 offers increased connectivity for seamless integration with existing retail systems, with interface options including high-speed USB, serial and parallel ports, powered USB, Ethernet and wireless.  It has new drivers including OPoS ADK, Java and Windows advanced printer driver.

Demonstrating Epson’s product reliability in a high transaction workplace, the TM-T70 has an impressive MCBF (Mean Characters Between Failure) of 52 million lines, a MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of 360,000 hours and an autocutter life of 1.5 million cuts.

Epson was recently rated the number one POS peripherals provider for the third year in a row in the Hardware LeaderBoard '08 published by Retail Information Systems News (RIS) magazine in the US.  Retailers ranked Epson ahead of vendors such as IBM, NCR and Lexmark based on six evaluation criteria including Product Features and Functionality, Price and Value, Overall Performance, Technology Innovation, Support and Service, and Product Reliability.

The TM-T70 has a three year warranty and is immediately available through the One Epson sales and distribution channel.
