Epson releases new entry level POS printer

May 2010

Epson has released a new convenient and economical entry-level transactional receipt printer aimed at customers in the retail, banking and hospitality segments looking for the security of Epson’s market-leading reliability in POS printers at a low cost.

The TM-T20 Thermal Receipt Printer comes with the Windows, Mac OS 10.4 to 10.6 and Linux drivers and accessories included for quick and easy installation by the user. Windows 7 users can install the TM-T20 without the CD-ROM using the Windows automatic driver update facility.

The quality and performance of the TM-T20 is backed by Epson’s leading position and long experience in the POS thermal receipt printer market as well as Epson’s renowed name in excellent reliability and performance for its TM-T88 series of transactional receipt printers.

As a result the TM-T20 has a MCBF of 60 million lines, the print head is rated for 100km, and the auto cutter will deliver 1.5 million cuts.

The TM-T20 is easy to set up, customise and maintain using the built in menu systems selected by using combinations of the “Feed” and “Power” buttons.

It prints at a rapid 150mm/s, equalling or bettering the output of all entry level and some mid-range POS printers.

The paper feed accepts paper widths from 58mm to 80mm, and is strong, reliable, and designed to prevent the unexpected crumpling and mid-stream cutting of receipts.

The casing is also designed to prevent objects falling into the printer and accidents caused by contact from solids or liquids with the circuit board.

The front-facing controls and paper access provide complete operating convenience while the space-saving design means the TM-T20 can be mounted in virtually any counter or wall position.

The TM-T20 will be sold through distributors or direct relationships with key systems integrators at an RRP of $399 inc GST.
