Aarque gets SurePress off to a flying start in New Zealand

May 2012

Sydney, 3 May 2012: New Zealand’s leading digital print distributor, Aarque Group Ltd, has been appointed distributor and agent for the Epson SurePress L-4033A, a highly versatile short run digital label press.

Aarque has launched Epson SurePress to the New Zealand market through its commercial print specialist business channel, Frontline.

Aarque Group provides an extensive New Zealand network with six major branches nationwide incorporating sales, service and logistics. Frontline adds commercial print specialist expertise to support specialist sales advice, installation and training on SurePress.

Sales Manager Leo Bult said SurePress is a really good fit with Aarque’s customer base, and for the New Zealand market at large as it delivers high quality short run labels at an affordable cost.

“We will be installing the first two SurePress in New Zealand over the next two months,” Leo said.

“We've worked with SurePress for a few months now and our guys have trained on it, plus we are sending a couple of guys to drupa in Germany to see the new SurePress model that’s being launched there.

“It’s lower cost, it’s very flexible, it has a good media range and compatibility, and the quality of output is what you would expect from a high end Epson large format photo printer, so it’s impressed our customers. It has good print speed for your investment, it has great web capability and it just fits our market beautifully.

“Epson’s competitors are busy trying to compete with the larger presses on speed, but we're saying to customers you can buy a SurePress for an affordable price and run it alongside your traditional presses for high quality, short run variable content and make your customers and your accountant happy.

“It’s a natural choice for us as we service and support the whole of the printing industry across New Zealand and we see this segment as one that is expanding quickly,” said Leo.

Craig Heckenberg, Business Unit Manager for Epson Australia, said Epson has worked with Aarque for 16 years selling and supporting Epson’s large format printers for sign and display, photographic and professional graphics work.

“We have a strong business partnership so I am very pleased Aarque is so impressed with SurePress and already has two confirmed sales,” Craig said.

Designed for label converters taking the first steps into digital printing or expanding their existing digital printing capacity, large scale product manufacturers and commercial printers, the Epson SurePress L-4033A fits easily into existing digital workflows and is offered with a range of third party pre-and post-press options that can be tailored to meet various needs and budgets.

SurePress leverages the accuracy and precision of Epson’s leading MicroPiezo® ink jet technology and newly-developed SurePress AQ six-colour, industrial-quality, water-based pigment ink that produces a remarkable range of colours for impressive, professional and consistent results.

SurePress has 15 six-colour high performance and highly accurate print heads that produce printing speeds up to 5 metres/minute while producing smooth tonal gradations, remarkable colour quality, and sharp detail for easy bar code readability, plus crisp small type and line work.

And each print head uses Epson’s patented Variable-sized Droplet Technology to both ensure smooth tonal gradations and accurate colours for optimum image quality, and to help improve print speed over large single colour areas.

Epson set out to ensure that conversion to a digital label printing system with SurePress is as easy as possible with minimal changes to existing substrate inventories and purchasing choices, and automated set up procedures to minimise make ready time.
