Epson's new SureColor Technical printer series: superior performance, flexibility and value for business

November 2012

Sydney, 5 November 2012: Epson has broadened its SureColor commercial printer range with three new cost-effective, high-speed, large-format, colour printers for CAD, GIS, POS, general business and design applications.

The Epson SureColor SC-T7000, SC-T5000 and SC-T3000 offer an unprecedented combination of precision, performance and value with industry-leading accuracy and all-new Epson UltraChrome® XD pigment ink for brilliant, crisp output on virtually any media type.

The SureColor T-Series is designed to produce high resolution, large-format colour and black-and-white images economically and at high speed on media up to 44-inches (1,118mm), 36-inches (914mm) and 24-inches (610mm) wide respectively.

The printers are compatible with a wide range of coated and non-coated media from basic bond paper to thick cardboard, and are ideal for maps, architectural drawings, technical schematics, geological surveys, sales presentations, indoor signage, posters and displays.

Designed to fit seamlessly into the office environment, the SureColor T-Series features sleek styling, small footprints and low noise levels. With all-front loading consumables and roll and sheet media fed in at the top while finished prints emerge below, cut and stacked neatly into a basket, the T Series has been designed to allow placement against a wall or in a corner.

Built from the ground up using all-Epson engineering and incorporating the latest in printing technology, the T Series delivers extreme line accuracy and superior colour density. The print head supports resolutions up to 2880 x 1440 dpi with Variable Dot Sizing for super fine lines, exceptional half-tones and optimised ink consumption.

These printers offer some of the fastest speeds in their class with a draft A1 print on plain paper produced in as little 28 seconds. A convenient output basket holding up to 20 A1 or A0-sized paper plots for easy sorting and quick retrieval is incorporated into the floor mounted models. An optional auto-take-up reel can also be added to the 44 inch model enabling continuous high-volume printing.

The SureColor T-Series features Epson's latest all-pigment ink technology. Epson UltraChrome XD delivers crisp lines and solid colour for drawing and business work as well as photographic quality images for design, presentation and interior signage applications. It is compatible with a wide range of organic and synthetic media types and provides enhanced abrasion and water resistance for extended print durability. The ink comes in individual colour ink cartridges in either 110 ml, 350 ml or a high-capacity 700 ml to suit different operational, usage and cost-per print requirements.

The printers are quick to set up, have automatic photo and matte black ink switching, and operators do not need special training. Tracking how much paper is left on a roll is simple thanks to media barcode printing.

"As with our renowned professional photo printers the design and specifications of the SureColor T-Series and the new UltraChrome XD pigment ink are based on direct feedback from architects and engineers who consistently stressed the need for easy and reliable printers that make accurate, smudge and water resistant large-format prints quickly and cost effectively," Craig Heckenberg, Business Unit Manager, Epson Australia, said.

"The SureColor T-Series goes beyond those expectations, integrating essential ingredients from Epson's market leading photo heritage and printing technology innovation into state-of-the art technical printers."

The SureColor T3000, T5000, and T7000 offer value-add features that increase efficiency and productivity, including:

  • Three widths: the SureColor T3000, T5000 and T7000 have maximum print widths of 24, 36 and 44-inches respectively with minimal floor space requirements and all-front loading consumables.
