Epson launches new ColorWorks C7500 industrial in-house label printer

August 2015

Joins broad range of digital labelling printers enabling wide range of applications

SYDNEY, 27 August 2015 – Epson today announced that it has launched its ColorWorks C7500 colour inkjet desktop label printer which has been developed to help manufacturers meet a wide variety of in-house, on-demand, customised labelling requirements.

The new ColorWorks C7500 incorporates Epson’s new PrecisionCore Micro TFP line printhead which has been specifically developed for use in the commercial-grade, industrial labelling market and lasts for the lifetime of the printer1. This printhead, Epson’s most advanced, ensures excellent reliability alongside the ability to print 600 x 1200dpi quality labels on a wide variety of materials including matte, gloss and synthetic media. In addition, it’s capable of a wide range of formats and sizes up to 108mm wide and print speeds up to 300mm/sec. Sharp, high-quality results are achieved through the use of Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT) which produces ink droplets in a range of precisely controlled sizes. In addition, Nozzle Verification Technology and dot substitution helps prevent misprints and dead pixels to ensure consistent printouts.

The C7500 uses Epson’s pigment ink in high-capacity cartridges to give fast-drying labels that are smudge, water and fade resistant. The printer is easy to use, integrates into most operating systems and features an auto-cutter as standard and a take-up unit for roll-to-roll printing. The ColorWorks C7500 comes equipped with ZPL II programming compatibility to allow direct plug-in replacement for manufacturers operating two-step printing with traditional thermal transfer printers. In this application, the printer can produce full colour labels from blank stock by automatically merging “colour pre-print” images in memory with existing monochrome data streams.

Craig Heckenberg, Epson Australia’s General Manager for Business Division said, “With the ColorWorks C7500, manufacturers can now produce outstanding quality, individually-customised colour labels in-house, on-demand, at a low cost per label and without the costs associated with producing and stocking pre-printed labels for secondary overprinting. It is the ultimate in short-run colour printing for those for who want the flexibility in-house to reliably meet their label printing needs. It eliminates the costs associated with pre-printing by producing short run, customised labels on demand for a variety of applications such as product packaging, food, beverages, energy labels and GHS2 labels.”

The new ColorWorks C7500 and C7500G (ideal for glossy labels and supports plain, matte and synthetic materials with some limitations) complete with take-up unit are available now and priced at $9,099AUD (RRP) including GST.

1 Product lifetime of ColorWorks C7500 is defined as 500km of paper length feed.
2 Globally Harmonized System of classification and labelling of chemical substance and mixtures.
