Epson Launches High Speed Large Format Production Range

March 2016

New 44" SC-P10070 & 64" SC-P20070 offer print speeds of up to 105 m2/hr for high volume photo, graphic, fine art and ultra vibrant colour poster production

SYDNEY, 17 March 2016 – Epson has launched a new high-speed colour production range. The 44" SureColor P10070 and 64" SureColor P20070 use a new ten colour ink set with an extended colour gamut and four levels of black. They feature an advanced media management system that enables high production speeds with superior print quality, alignment precision, and linearity.

The 44" SureColor P10070

Designed for commercial printers, professional photographers, fine art and print service providers, the SC-P10070 and SC-P20070 offer a fast and cost-effective production platform. They consume minimal power and use large pigment based ink cartridges to produce prints that dry quickly to be moisture and abrasion resistant. Output is suitable for a range of applications including large format poster, photo and fine art reproduction, POS and in-store signage, exhibition and display graphics.

The printers combine Epson's latest PrecisionCore™ MicroTFP printhead technology with a new ink set UltraChrome PRO. Similar to the UltraChrome HD and HDX inks launched in 2015, this new ink set offers an extended colour gamut with deeper blacks and an additional fourth Black for superior toning and B/W reproduction. The new head enables superior print with enhanced operational durability and reduced wastage. They feature a sensing system, Nozzle Verification Technology, that can detect nozzle blockages automatically and without having to eject ink. They also incorporate separate Matte and Photo Black channels for fast interchange without ink loss.

The 64" SureColor P20070

The printers incorporate advanced media management. A new media tracking system visually maps and tracks the media as it moves through the printer with feed and pressure rollers actively managed to ensure superior linearity. Prints can be produced at high speed with superior colour consistency. When an optional Auto Take-Up unit is added the system also enables more consistent alignment and tension for efficient roll to roll production with off-line processing.

General Manager, Business Division, Epson Australia Craig Heckenberg said, "A lot of development work went into the SC-P10070 and SC-P20070. These new machines not only deliver increased productivity, but superior print quality, and a reduced running cost. They are truly groundbreaking machines and provide a formidable offering for the production print market."

The SureColor SC-P10070 and SC-P20070 include a number of features to help ensure the most accurate, precise, productive and reliable results. Blacks are deeper and richer thanks to new high density Photo and Matte Black inks. Better gradation with reduced graininess is achieved thanks to a K4 ink set and upgraded image processing (Epson Precision Dot technology). The new printhead structure means fewer vibrations and more accurate dot placement. A new utility, Epson Color Calibration, means prints can be consistent time after time, year after year.

The SureColor SC-P10070 and SC-P20070 not only produce great results, but make operation and maintenance clear and simple, allowing users to enjoy hassle-free production printing. Getting started is easy with a clearly illustrated user guide and colour LCD Panel. When it comes to handling, changing and switching media, the process is quick and effortless. During printing, a transparent printer cover window and roll cover window allows users to check the status of printing and remaining media. The printhead automatically detects nozzle blocks and will self-clean as required. Manual periodic maintenance is infrequent and easy to perform.

User efficiency and workflow can be improved further with a number of optional add-ons. A 320GB HDD can be added for fast and efficient workgroup operation with rapid document spooling and direct reprinting, either from the control panel or remotely. An Adobe® Postscript® 3™ module is also available for those who work with graphic files complete with high-speed hardware-based image processing. There is also an optional precision auto take up for efficient roll to roll production and offline finishing.

Finally and as you would expect with all Epson products both new models come with a comprehensive 1 year warranty (heads and all) and extendable coverage up to 5 years.
