Gowa Foods chooses Epson WorkForce Pro WF-R8590TC with Replaceable Ink Pack System

September 2016

Saves time and money on printing costs

SYDNEY, 7 September 2016 – Sydney-based Gowa Foods supplies meat and seafood products to the majority of Japanese yakiniku and teppanyaki restaurants in the city, as well as exporting wagyu products to many Asian countries. With high print volumes a reliable and efficient printing solution has always been central to the smooth running of the business. Most recently the company chose two Epson WorkForce Pro WF-R8590TC printers with a Replaceable Ink Pack System (RIPS) supplied by Kayell Australia as its main printing resource.

For Gowa Foods ordering and arranging deliveries and collections of the right product for each printer was a logistical challenge in itself, not to mention the associated overheads. With this in mind the company determined that a new approach was required when considering which multifunction printers to integrate into the business.

Gowa Foods' director Hendra Hermanto explained, "Our decision to purchase the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-R8590TC printer was based around finding a very good, above average, heavy duty printer which needed the minimum possible maintenance and did not need ink replaced frequently. It also had to be space efficient and not too bulky. When we did our research the WF-R8590TC printer was found to be our ideal solution. The help and excellent knowledge of the very latest in inkjet solutions provided by Kayell Australia was also a very big plus."

The Epson WorkForce Pro WF-R8590TC workgroup printer enables Gowa Foods to benefit from the increased productivity of a local distributed print fleet that requires minimal intervention, while providing predictable print costs. The WF-R8590TC allows users to print up to 75,000 pages in black or 75,000 pages in colour without replacing the ink1 thanks to the printer's super-high-yield ink supply units. The supply units are low intervention and virtually eliminate time wasting interruptions. Supplies management is made simple and supplies waste is greatly reduced, thereby resulting in lower IT support costs.

As with all RIPS printers, the WorkForce Pro WF-R8590TC is powered by PrecisionCore technology giving users the output quality that Epson is known for, at the speeds required for office, commercial and industrial printing. Prints dry fast thanks to the DURABrite Ultra ink. PDL printing emulations, including PCL and Adobe PostScript 3, and Gigabit Ethernet help this printer easily integrate into the business environment.

For Gowa Foods there were several key factors that drew them to the WorkForce Pro WF-R8590TC RIPS solution. As Hermanto continued, "Our main driver was a requirement to cut costs. With this in mind we could see the WF-R8590TC was a reliable printer and the overall price and costs of operation were excellent. Moreover, it was low maintenance, a good size, had decent paper capacity, and the price of consumables was reasonable. All in all it was clearly an excellent package that very much met our requirements."

Gowa Foods uses its WorkForce Pro WF-R8590TC to print customer invoices, statements, faxes and order packing lists. Such is the volume of printing that the company often uses more than one ream of paper per day.

Hendra Hermanto concluded, "Having now used it for a while I can say that the WF-R8590TC is very good printer, better than any printer that I have ever purchased in terms of reliability. It also gives us a real edge over other printers with its reliability and short warm up time. In a busy office environment a printer that breaks down often or is slow is a total nightmare. This also means fewer paper jams and with the amount of paper we use that's a big plus. It also responds very quickly when in sleep mode where our previous printers took ages to warm up. All of these benefits save us time and money."

1 R24X Black ink pack prints about 75,000 pages. R24X Colour Packs print about 75,000 pages on average. Actual number of pages will vary. Replacement ink pack yields are based on testing with ISO/IEC 24712 patterns with Epson's methodology in Default mode, printing continuously. Yields may vary considerably for reasons that include images printed, print settings, temperature and humidity. Yields may be lower when printing infrequently or predominantly with one ink colour. All ink colours are used for printing and printer maintenance. For print quality, part of the ink from the included cartridges or ink packs is used for printer startup and a variable amount of ink remains in the ink pack after the "replace ink pack" signal appears.
