PrintEx 2019 sees Epson launch SureLab D860 compact commercial photo printer
Supports a wide range of formats and applications

SYDNEY, 7 August 2019 – On stand C18 at PrintEx 2019 Epson Australia will launched the SureLab D860, a compact commercial grade photo printer, aimed at photographers, event management, business and retail. The D860 has extended durability which has enabled a lower TCO, while enhanced functionality and quieter operation has expanded the business opportunities it offers.

The SureLab D860 has been developed for companies who want to expand their business opportunities while reducing cost and simplifying workflow. It is well suited to retail and event photo applications where it offers a compact footprint, a fast start-up time, flexible output, and superior print quality. It can output common 4” x 6” and 8” x 10” inch photo sizes as well as small 2” x 3.5” and large A4 prints, with or without borders. Unlike traditional commercial photo production technologies, it is easy to use, consumes minimal power, requires very little maintenance and involves no nasty chemicals.

The SL-D860 also supports corporate and business imaging including passport and ID photos as well as product flyers and business cards.

Weddings, schools and studio production have also been well taken care of with the SL-D860 due to the fact that it prints precise and repeatable colour. There’s a choice of gloss, lustre and matte media with output sizes that can be adjusted on-the-fly and the prints dry upon exit to be resistant to damage through scratching and moisture exposure. It will also output panoramic lengths which make it perfect for value-add merchandise including specialty prints, invites, greeting cards, calendars and awards.

Essentially the SureLab SL-D860 is designed for any business that prints photos on a regular basis, either for internal use or as a print for pay service. It suits photographers, photo shops, minilabs and copy shops, retail (its compact size makes it perfect for kiosk applications), as well as corporate and government customers that need to print material in batches or on demand.

In order to meet the ever-changing and increasingly creative customer demands, the SL-D860 has been designed with flexibility in mind. It uses cost-effective high quality Epson roll-based media that comes in 65 metre lengths and widths from 89mm to 210mm. The SL-D860 supports print lengths from 50mm to 1000mm with ‘on-the-fly’ adjustment and combines an impressive production speed of 360 (15 x 10cm) photos per hour (PPH) with high print quality. Advanced Epson ink enables output with a colour gamut, Dmax, and gloss level that exceeds alternative technologies such as Silver Halide or Thermal Dye Sublimation.

Low power consumption is matched with the cost-effective ink. Enhancing the SureLab D860’s cost-effectiveness further is a 200,000 print duty cycle, which is double that of its predecessor, the D700. The printer is also covered with a comprehensive on-site warranty for Australian and New Zealand customers with service cover extendable up to 5 years via optional CoverPlus.

Convenient features in the SL-D860 include auto media loading and ejection, all front loaded ink cartridges, and a front mounted waste paper bin that is emptied concurrent with the roll exchange. The printer ships complete with Mac and Windows software that enables it to be used with standard photo and graphic imaging software. Optional Order Controller software provides a full production environment complete with basic image editing and advanced job control. An optional output tray can be added to the front that supports prints from 5cm to 30cm in length.

The SureLab D860 will commence shipping in Australia in mid-August. The $6,495 RRP (ex tax) price includes 5 years CoverPlus and a limited launch bonus package containing Order Controller Lite and five rolls of media.
