Epson launches multifunction photo printer.

October 2003

Sydney 15 October 2003: Epson Australia has today released the Epson STYLUS CX5300 multifunction photo printer for the home office or small business, and introduced DURABrite™ Photo Paper to match the outstanding performance of its revolutionary DURABrite INK.

The Epson STYLUS CX5300 can reproduce high quality border free photos by scanning, photocopying, or printing original images using Epson's patented DURABrite INK in four individual cartridges and DURABrite Photo Paper. DURABrite INK offers up to 80 years lightfastness on Epson's Matte Paper - Heavyweight, and is water and smudge resistant.

It will print A4 or 150x100mm border free colour photos at up to 5670 x 1440 Optimised DPI (dots per inch) using Epson's Resolution Performance Management Technology.

Combining the full functionality of a high resolution Epson MicroPiezo(TM) inkjet printer and a 2400 dpi flatbed scanner the STYLUS CX5300 is the perfect companion for the small office whether at home or remote.

The STYLUS CX5300 prints black text at up to 22 pages per minute, delivering attractive business documents quickly and precisely. With Epson's advanced colour management system the STYLUS CX5300 produces outstanding colour graphics for presentations and newsletters, and beautiful photo colour prints on plain and specialty photo paper.

The Epson software provided with the CX5300 includes Epson's unique Colour Restoration function - allowing easy and simple substantial restoration of colour to faded colour photos, Epson's Smart Panel software, the Epson Scan interface, Optical Character Recognition, and Epson PhotoQuicker 3.4.

The STYLUS CX5300 uses Epson's patented DURABrite(TM) INK in four individual ink cartridges (Black, Yellow, Cyan and Magenta) to deliver colour fast water and smudge resistant documents and photo prints.

Epson's DURABrite INK has extremely small pigment particles(less than a micron in diameter) each encased in a protective coating to ensure protection from water and air damage. The result is long lasting, bright colour prints that resist smudging if they get wet and have a lightfastness up to 80 years on Epson's Matte Paper-Heavyweight.

The STYLUS CX5300 has a high resolution (2400 DPI) flatbed scanner and comes with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software and Epson's new Photo Restoration function - enabling the substantial restoration of colour to faded colour prints.

The Epson Scan software provides three different usage modes to suit the amateur, enthusiast and professional, and allows either one click automated scanning, or control of all aspects of the scanning process. Epson's Smart Panel software allows one click scanning of images direct to the internet, to file on disk or email.

Epson's unique Matrix Charge Coupled Device (CCD) scanning engine means users can scan pages from books and magazines that may not be completely flush with the glass.

The Epson Stylus CX5300 also operates standalone as a colour photocopier and can reproduce border free colour photos without being connected to a PC.

The CX5300 is available from today through Epson volume distribution channel and is expected to sell for $399 recommended retail price including GST. For full specifications on this product please refer to www.epson.com.au.
