High contrast ratio
Brightness and colour are only two of the vital characteristics of a projector; and the difference between a good and a great projector. In order to achieve maximum image display quality, a high contrast ratio is absolutely essential. With the Epson EMP-TW700 that quality is delivered by means of a massive 10,000 to 1 contrast ratio.
One of the technological advances that make such a high contrast ratio possible is the Auto Iris Function; a powerful function that controls lamp brightness levels 60 times every second. When the projector is displaying a light scene the iris is opened, allowing more light to pass through to LCD panels resulting in a brighter image. For dark scenes, the iris opening is reduced, delivering richer blacks than are possible under less advanced systems.
