Epson Stylus CX3700

Variable-Sized Droplet Technology

The best-sized ink droplet for the best printing results

The Epson Stylus CX3700 features Variable-Sized Dot Technology (VSDT) - another unique Epson development in inkjet printing. By incorporating Ultra microdots and the ability to print with different droplet sizes, VSDT is a major step forward in improving print quality and speed.

VDOT Ultramicrodots

Ultramicrodots are incredibly small ink droplets, between four and six picolitres in size. The dot diameter is up to four times smaller than that of a human hair and is incredibly close to the limit of resolution for the human eye. Achieved by virtue of the absolute control over ink by the Epson MicroPiezo print head, Ultramicrodots deliver prints with much finer detail, less graininess and smoother gradations.

Note: 1 picolitre (pl) = 0.000 000 000 001 litre

Different Size Droplets

To bring about an increase in print speed, Epson developed Variable-Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT) - a major advance that counters the negative impact on speed brought about by an increase in the number of dots per print due to the introduction of Ultramicrodots.

The Stylus CX3700 driver chooses the appropriate size for the area of image being printed. It's like painting a room; you use a large brush for quick coverage of large areas and smaller, finer brushes for areas of detail.
