Great for scanning family history
Purchased for use by members of our Computer Pals club to scan and preserve photos, slides, negatives for their family history.
It is purpose built for the above and will be used to train our members who will then use the unit to scan their own photos, slides and negatives for photobooks and family history.
Our club is very satisfied with this V550 photo scanner

OK performance, but......
The unit works quite well, but there are other scanners in the market with reasonable performance that are less than a quarter of the price of this unit.
When I opened the unit I found that there were several large specks of dust or other material on the underside of the glass platen. These specks were near the bottom of the platen, below the bottom of an A4 page, so I decided that this would not affect most of the items I wanted too scan. I had waited more than 4 weeks for delivery of the unit into the store, so I decided not to return it as I could not wait another 4 weeks for a replacement.
Very disappointing.

WOW this item is so great
purchased a V550 scanner to scan my 70,000+ negative photos so far done 2,800 and the V550 is great and performs just the way I want it I have already Recommended it to a friend its just a great scanner thank you epson regards Iain
