Epson announces their first POS printer with breakthrough TranScan™ digital cheque imaging technology.

August 2002

Sydney, 27th August 2002 - Epson, leaders in Point of Sale technology, have today released the TM-H6000II POS printer, the first printer from Epson to deliver cheque and voucher scanning, two colour receipt printing, impact printing and voucher printing at the point of sale in the one device.

The TM-H6000II is the first printer in the Australia/New Zealand region to offer Epson's TranScan technology. Transcan is built in cheque and voucher scanning, which enables the potential automation of cheque or store voucher validation at the point of sale. The customer's cheque can be scanned automatically by the TM-H6000II and the back end system validation completely automated, without a time intensive manual process by the POS operator.

With two colour thermal printing the TM-H6000II makes on-demand marketing at the point of sale a reality. The provision of a receipt is increasingly important in Australia due to the recent introduction of GST. The receipt is the last contact the retailer may have with the customer, so it is vital to make use of this tool to communicate a relevant message. With the TM-H6000II, the retailer can provide a purchase relevant marketing message to the customer in two vibrant colours, even offering a discount on the next purchase or special offer on a product related to the one just bought.

The TM-H6000II delivers one of the fastest thermal receipt printing speeds of any multifunction printer in its class. With a two-colour thermal print speed of 17.7 lines per second and a single colour print speed of 53 lines per second, the TM-H6000II speeds customers through the checkout line without the processing delay . As with all Epson printers, reliability is something you can count on. The TM-H6000II has a long printer head life of 52 million mean characters between failures.

The TM-H6000II supports connection to older legacy systems from IBM, and will operate in full IBM 4610 native mode emulation. The TM-H6000II supports RS-232 and bi-directional parallel interfaces as well as RS-485 and USB Pluspower, allowing retailers the flexibility they need to connect to older POS systems or upgrade their POS system later and still keep their Epson TM-H6000II POS printer working around the clock.

The Epson TM-H6000II is available through Epson authorised POS resellers. For a list check the Epson POS section of this site:
