Variable-Sized Droplet Technology
The STYLUS COLOR 900 incorporates Epson's Variable-Sized Droplet technology and is an enhancement to Micro Piezo technology, part of the PerfectPicture Imaging System. With Variable-Sized Droplet technology the dot size is controlled according to the tone level required of the final output. Large ink dots are used when printing solid colours and small ink dots when printing gradations, skin tones and more detailed areas of an image. By using a combination of large, medium and small ink dot sizes, the Epson STYLUS COLOR 900 produces a combination of speed and print quality without compromise.

Smallest dot size in the market
The small ink droplets are called Ultra MicroDots and at three picolitres it's the world's smallest ink droplet when printing in either black or colour. The overall print quality has been considerably enhanced because small ink dots produce much finer detail and smoother gradations.

Connectivity and software
The Epson STYLUS COLOR 900 works with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT and Mac® OS 8.1 to 9.X. It features multi-protocol autoswitching via parallel, serial and USB ports and has networking capabilities through a Type-B (10/100 Base TX) interface card (additional option).

Printer driver software includes standard features such as Watermark, print layout and fit-to-page printing, and also includes specialised features such as sharpness control and digital camera image correction. It also has an Automatic Mode that adjusts the colour and print quality for the type of paper used which eliminates the need to guess the printer settings.
